CO₂ Laser Surgery for Pets

Gentle, Advanced Surgery Designed for Faster Healing and Greater Comfort

When your pet needs surgery, it’s never “just a procedure.”
It’s their comfort, their recovery, and their quality of life — and that matters deeply to you, and to us.

At VetLand Hospital & Emergency, we offer advanced CO₂ (carbon dioxide) laser surgery, a modern alternative to the traditional steel scalpel. This technology allows us to perform surgery with exceptional precision, less tissue trauma, and a focus on smoother, more comfortable recoveries for our patients.

Instead of cutting tissue, the CO₂ laser vaporises targeted cells, sealing small blood vessels, lymphatics, and nerve endings as it works. For your pet, this means less bleeding, reduced swelling, and faster healing times

CO₂ laser surgery is rarely offered by veterinarians due to the expense and technical expertise required. We’re incredibly proud to have three experienced laser surgeons at VetLand — Dr Vicky, Dr Miranda, and Dr Ravneet — all highly skilled in laser surgery

Why Do Pet Parents Choose CO₂ Laser Surgery?

Because Comfort in Recovery Matters

CO₂ laser surgery isn’t about high tech for the sake of it.
It’s about what your pet experiences after surgery.

CO₂ laser surgery improving comfort and recovery for veterinary patients

Less bleeding

The laser seals many small blood vessels as it works, creating a cleaner surgical field and supporting precision.

Reduced pain and trauma

By avoiding tissue tearing and sealing nerve endings, many pets experience less post-operative discomfort.

Smoother recovery

Gentler tissue handling and reduced swelling can support quicker, calmer healing in suitable cases.

Exceptional precision

Experienced surgeons can work in delicate areas with minimal impact on surrounding tissue.

CO₂ laser surgery can make a meaningful difference to your pet’s comfort and well-being.

When Is CO₂ Laser Surgery Used?

Ideal for Delicate Soft-Tissue Procedures

CO₂ laser surgery is commonly used across a wide range of soft-tissue procedures, including:

  • Skin lump, cyst, wart, and tumour removal
  • Eyelid and facial surgeries
  • Oral soft-tissue procedures
  • Ear and airway surgeries
  • Spays and castrations

A Game-Changer for BOAS Surgery Procedures

One area where CO₂ laser surgery has been truly transformative is
BOAS (Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome) surgery.

Using the laser allows BOAS procedures to be performed within a fraction of the time previously, with minimal bleeding, and often without sutures.

This is especially valuable for short-faced breeds that are more vulnerable during surgery and recovery.

Cleaner surgery, better visual control, and reduced tissue trauma all support safer procedures and smoother early recoveries.

Advanced Technology, Backed by Experience

Precision You Can Trust

CO₂ laser surgery requires more than just equipment — it requires
training, experience, and sound judgement.

That’s why only a handful of clinics in Victoria offer this service, and why VetLand Hospital & Emergency is proud to have three skilled laser surgeons delivering this care with confidence and compassion.

When it comes to surgery, your pet deserves both advanced tools and experienced hands.

11 out of 10 for these fantastic crew. Very professional people with very gentle hearts and were extremely thorough. They took excellent care of my darling doggo (and me for that matter) I would definitely suggest these people to take care of your precious family members. The costs were as any standard vet would be so a thumbs up from me.

We had every pet-parent’s worst fear happen and had to rush our beloved 13 year old diabetic cat to the emergency vet as she was having a hypoglycaemic episode and was declining. We were seen swiftly and all the tests done and she was admitted for a 12 hour stay. The staff all made us feel reassured and their calm demeanours helped to ease my anxiety a little bit. I felt safe leaving my darling little Chérie in their care overnight and I truly felt like they were invested in her recovery..

Great place! These guys were awesome and the facilities were amazing. Squeezed us in for an emg consult after our dog scalped his head being a nutcase. We even got a tour of the facilities after they helped our boy Tiny Dog. Recommended! 🤜🤛

We had to go to Vetland very early Good Friday to have our sick cat Tabitha looked at. Upon examination it was obvious that she was very ill and sadly could not be saved. During the whole time we were there we were kept fully updated and the compassion shown by all the staff was very much appreciated, and also the later follow-up.Our sincere thanks to all at Vetland.

This clinic is refreshing… I’ve had to visit twice in an emergency once for my partners dog and again for my own… they are so considerate and warm and my favourite thing the did for us (apart from the wonderful work on our dogs) is the fact that they let us be apart of the consultation… I got to spend every minute with my girl right up until they put her under and I think that’s just wonderful.. for her and for me since we are so close… ❤️ A+ for sure not to mention the stitches she needed are very well done!
