Q: Why did you choose to become a veterinary technician?
Ever since I was little, I have had a keen interest in animals - I grew up with Guinea pigs, dogs, fish, etc. I achieved my Bachelor’s degree in Animal and Veterinary Bioscience at University and loved it, this led me to pursue the position of veterinary technician.

Q: Do you have any pets at home?
Bella, she’s a sweet Labrador retriever.

Q: What are your interest areas when it comes to working with animals?
I love labradors, and service animals, I would love to work with guide dogs one day.

Q: What is something interesting that we may not know about you?
I love watching and playing all kinds of sports

Q: Why did you choose to become a veterinary nurse?
Ever since I lived on a farm when I was younger I knew that I’d be in the animal industry somewhere! Lucky enough my parents let me have many different animals from dogs to sheep and goats! While running my business on the side you’ll always see me in the clinic learning from the best Veterinarians and Lead Nurses! In hopes to become a fabulous Veterinarian one day too!

Q: Do you have any pets at home?
I’ve always had pugs ever since I was a child and I currently have Milo an elderly fawn pug who is very cheeky and my newest edition is Mocha a fawn Female pug! Who absolutely runs the house. They’ve also had the BOAS surgery that made a significant difference to their Quality of life & I would recommend the surgery to any brachycephalic dog owner! As well as my kitten Otis the British shorthair who we love to bits!

Q: What are your interest areas when it comes to working with animals?
One day I’ll specialise in The worlds favourite smooshed face breeds known as brachycephalic. These dogs with wonderful personalities deserve the world minus the complications, I’ll be able to make a change someday!

Q: What is something interesting that we may not know about you?
When I’m not in my scrubs at the clinic you’ll see me running my dress hire business from home! Two completely different industries however wouldn’t change it for the world!

Q: Why did you choose to become a veterinary nurse?
Since I was young I always knew that I wanted to work with animals. When asked “what do you want to be when you’re older”, my response remained the same, “a Vet Nurse”. I love being able to work with animals every day and help them when in need. The cuddles are pretty great too 😇

Q: Do you have any pets at home?
I have a red coloured Cavoodle at home named Chester, although we often refer to him as “cheeky monkey”. He is 10yrs old and loves to curl up and get cosy on the couch. His favourite treat would definitely be cheese. He always knows when someone is grabbing the cheese out of the fridge.

Q: What are your interest areas when it comes to working with animals?
I’ve always found Rehabilitation really interesting. It’s amazing to see their progress and to watch them regain strength and confidence over time.

Q: Why did you choose to become a veterinarian?
I’ve always loved and wanted to help animals. I initially was thinking about a career in wildlife conservation. In the end, the very special bond that I developed caring for my “heart dog” Lady motivated me to become a vet.

Q: Do you have any pets at home?
Barkly the big black Shepherd, who’s the goodest boy and a big softie.
Rochey the Cattle Dog puppy who’s always ready to go and loves playing fetch with the team.

Q: What are your interest areas when it comes to veterinary medicine?
At the moment, I’m completing my Hydrotherapy qualification, and will also be a certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner in the near future. I’m particularly interested in treating senior pets, and improving their pain management. Regenerative medical therapy, such as stem cells, is especially exciting to me. When I’m not focusing on rehabilitation and mobility therapy, I have a keen interest in exotic pets, like rabbits, Guinea pigs and birds.

Q: What is something interesting that we may not know about you?
I used to be a dancer! Now I enjoy Pilates in my free time.

Dr. Mananya Prateeppornsak

Q: Why did you choose to become a veterinarian?
Since I was born, we have always had cats and dogs at home. They are family members and my best friends. When I was young, when people asked what I wanted to do when I grow up, I would answer ‘anything that I can be with animals everyday’!

I wake up every day with my dog and cat next to me, then go to work and say ‘hello’ to our clinic cats, see all the fluffy boys and girls all day, then get back home to cuddle my girls!

Q: Do you have any pets at home?
Lexi, a 34kg brindle girl who thinks that she is a lapdog.

Kitty, a calico cat who firmly believes she is the boss of the house.

Q: What are your interest areas when it comes to working with animals?
I love emergency and critical care, as well as ultrasonography, soft tissue surgeries and feline medicine.

Q: What is something interesting that we may not know about you?
Australia is my home-away-from-home - I am from Thailand!

Dr. Milena Fancuillo

Q: Why did you choose to become a veterinarian?
I graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Sydney. Whilst studying interstate, I was a live-in student at a practice in the beachside suburb of Bondi. This is where the Bondi Vet television series was filmed!

Q: Do you have any pets at home?
I live with an affectionate golden English Cocker Special called Abi, and a charismatic Standardbred gelding called Nari, who is afraid of plastic bags and kangaroos.

Q: What are your interest areas when it comes to working with animals?
I have a particular interest in emergency medicine. I am also currently training in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery - I’m very interested in minimally invasive procedures.

Q: What is something interesting that we may not know about you?
During my student placement days, I assisted in the caesarean delivery of a foal, whilst her sister raced and came first at the Cox plate!

Dr. Rafael Mibelli

Q: Why did you choose to become a veterinarian?
At the age of 10, I had the opportunity to spend some time with my uncle, who was a vet, and I realised that it was a passion that I shared with him. He used to work with cattle, water buffalo, and horses - it was incredible to my young mind! In 2008, I graduated from theCentral University of Venezuela as a veterinarian and started working in a small animal clinic until 2016. From there, I moved to Australia, completed the veterinary examinations and have been working full time.

Q: Do you have any pets at home?
Fluffy, my beautiful T-Rex, he likes tennis balls and BBQ shapes on the couch while watching Real Madrid.

Q: What are your interest areas when it comes to working with animals?
My area of interest is orthopaedic surgery, I find it very interesting, especially the healing capabilities of cats and dogs. The outcome of seeing them back to their normal habits and playful selves is incredible.

Q: What is something interesting that we may not know about you?
I was once the anaesthetist for a hippo that escaped from the zoo in Venezuela! One of the vital signs you look for is to tickle his ear hair and see if there is a reaction. The first time I did that, he tried to take my arm off! We had to use a crane to pick him up to put him on the truck to take him back to his enclosure. He woke up fine, definitely the most interesting case I have worked on!

Q: Why did you choose to become a veterinarian?
When I was little, some kids wanted to be astronauts, others police officers - for me, it was always a veterinarian. I feel incredibly lucky to have landed my childhood dream - it’s absolutely everything I had ever hoped for. I adore pets, and just don’t think I’ll ever find myself doing anything other than this.

Q: Do you have any pets at home?
Pepito. Roan Spoodle. Unhinged, bananas, owns my heart.
Stimpson. Cavoodle. Desperately affectionate.
MacNeal. Cavoodle. Dreams of growing up into a Rottweiler one day.

Q: What are your interest areas when it comes to veterinary medicine?
I am crazy about teeth - dental care, surgery, saving teeth, extracting teeth. I am fascinated by it all. I’m also really excited about dermatology, my own pets suffer with allergies so I get it - I love seeing the transformations. I also very much enjoy treating patients with complex diseases - I love scratching through the clues to find the answers for pet families who are often very distressed.

Q: What is something interesting that we may not know about you?
At minimum, at the very least once per week, you’ll catch me watching Jaws, and Jurassic Park. I can’t help myself, I love blockbuster monster horror. The Fly, The Thing, Alien, Predator - they suck me in every time!

Q: Why did you choose to become a veterinary technician?
I’ve always known that I want to work with animals. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Veterinary and Animal Bioscience from La Trobe university, and have high hopes to become a qualified veterinarian. I am learning so much through the incredible opportunities in this environment, and have been mentored by so many amazing people.

Q: Do you have any pets at home?
I have two cats living with me in Melbourne. Rosie, a black and white domestic shorthair, is very stubborn but still thinks she’s a kitten. Whilst Groucho, also black and white, loves a good snuggle.

Q: What are your interest areas when it comes to working with animals?
I love it more and more every day, and am focusing on applying for veterinary school.

Q: What is something interesting that we may not know about you?
I am originally from the Sunshine Coast in Queensland!

Q: Why did you choose to become a veterinary nurse?
I have always wanted to work in the animal industry, for as long as I can remember. I completed a bachelor’s degree at university and started my nursing once I graduated. A year later - I haven’t looked back. It is a crazy environment sometimes, especially in emergency, but there is always something beautiful.

Q: Do you have any pets at home?
I have a blue fawn whippet named Ruby. She is a maniac and definitely has a tonne of sass, but I wouldn’t change her for the world! Her favourite activity is driving her mum crazy, and then begging for forgiveness with a snuggle in bed. Works every time.

Q: What are your interest areas when it comes to working with animals?
I love it all, there are so many avenues to explore in this career - the diversity is what makes this field so enticing for me.

Q: What is something interesting that we may not know about you?
I am a not-so-secret Harry Potter nerd, and I have no shame in that! I am a big fantasy person and have a little obsession of collecting books, most of which I have read, and some still calling my name.

Q: Why did you choose to become a veterinary technician?
Since a young age, I’ve always been surrounded by chickens, dogs, cats, fish and turtles. This really helped guide me to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Veterinary and Animal Bioscience, which I graduated from in 2021. I have been working veterinary technician ever since!

Q: Do you have any pets at home?
Charlie and Spud, my tri-colour Maine Coons - both gentle and cuddly giants.

Q: What are your interest areas when it comes to working with animals?
I am excited about wildlife welfare and conservation, but also physical rehabilitation as well.

Q: What is something interesting that we may not know about you?
I always thought that I was a dog person, however my Russian Blue and Maine Coons have helped me to see the light - I’m a cat person!

Q: Why did you choose to become a veterinary nurse?
I grew up loving and caring for animals. So, when the initial COVID lockdowns started, I just felt like it was as good a time as any to pursue my passion - and enrol in a veterinary nurse course.

Q: Do you have any pets at home?
Iggy, a black and white basenji crossed with English staff. He has a crazy tail, and personality to match!

Q: What are your interest areas when it comes to working with animals?
I especially love working with emergency and critical care patients.

Q: What is something interesting that we may not know about you?
I grew up helping raise my grandfathers flock of pigeons and we would race them in competitions.

Q: Why did you choose to become a veterinary technician?
The day I quit stacking shelves, I applied for a reception role here. I really just wanted to do something to get as close as I could to working with animals. I was offered a position as. A technician - and I snapped it up!

Q: Do you have any pets at home?
Siberian husky, black and white, who acts more like a person than a dog.

Q: What are your interest areas when it comes to working with animals?
I love working in the emergency hours, it’s fast-paced, quick-thinking and always something different.

Q: What is something interesting that we may not know about you?
I began martial arts before I started primary school, and continue with it to this day. I also play the drums.

My favourite hobbies include fishing, sports, aquarium-keeping and doing absolutely nothing.

Q: Why did you choose to become a veterinary nurse?
All of my life I’ve loved animals, and the simple idea of being able to love and care for every individual one. Adopting my beautiful German Shepard was the tipping point for me, and is when I decided to turn my passion into a career. Getting up every day, coming into work and having the exciting responsibility of treating and caring for all of the animals is something that I absolutely love. I wouldn’t want to be doing anything else.

Q: Do you have any pets at home?
Floyd is the name of my handsome German Shepard. He is a working line with classical black and tan coat. He is incredibly curious and almost human-like with his personality, we have so many laughs. He chooses when he wants cuddles, but I’m always there when he decides he’s ready!

Q: What are your interest areas when it comes to working with animals?
I love the day-to-day that comes with vet nursing, from the consulting room to the surgical suite, and everything in between.

Q: What is something interesting that we may not know about you?
I am a huge lover of sport! I played basketball for 15 years and was lucky enough to compete at a high level. I also played state-level volleyball for 6 years and have a keen eye on most sports. On the pet-side, I am definitely a dog-lover, but cats somehow always manage to find a way into my heart.
